This Saturday, Clark's Corner is co-hosting, along with Fire Chief Ken Mackey and Chief of Police Tracy Busby, a benefit to raise money for Ione Junior High after school sports Program.
Come out and show your support!

Saturday, August 29
5:00pm - 10:00pm
Clark's Corner
12 W Main St.

Chief of Police, Tracy Busby and Fire Chief, Ken Mackey will be hosting a Tip-A-Cop event to raise funds for the local Ione Junior High School for their after school sports programs.

Keeping our kids in the community engaged in activities is a great way for them to learn teamwork, hard work, and leadership skills. By coming out for a great night of food and entertainment, and an opportunity to contribute to our kids, we can make a positive impact with our students.

Clark's Corner will be preparing a great dinner of ribs, macaroni salad, and corn of the cob for $12.95 from 5:00pm-8:00pm with cold beer and wine to be served all evening.

For entertainment, the beloved local "30 Years After" will perform from 7:00pm-10:00pm.

Heres how you can make the night a great success. There will be several tip buckets out which will be for donations for the kids. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated from local establishments. All funds collected are exclusively used for the Ione Junior High sports programs.

Gold Country Auto Clinic Donates Subaru to Operation Care

Don Wilke's Gold Country Auto Clinic Donates Subaru to Operation Care
Amador County, August 24, 2015 --  As part of Gold Country Auto Clinic's open house to celebrate their recent move to Jackson, Don Wilke presented Operation Care with a beautiful rebuilt 1997 Subaru Legacy.  Several businesses including Howard's Body Shop, Jackson Tire, Riebe Auto Parts and Diamond Detail contributed to the refurbishment of the car, and Don Wilke has offered to provide maintenance of the car for the first 12 months.
"This gift is helping to improve the lives of survivors", said Tammie Crabtree, Executive Director of Operation Care. "We transport clients nearly 23,000 miles every year. This includes doctor appointments, social services, school, work and emergency transportation for victims escaping a dangerous situation. Don Wilke's Gold Country Auto Clinic's support for Operation Care is deeply appreciated, and our clients can take great comfort that members of our community value them and support their efforts toward living a safe and non-violent life, free of fear."
The open house celebration, held on Saturday, August 15th included free hot dogs, sodas and water, a bouncy house, and an honest-to-goodness NASCAR race car that Dale Earnhardt Sr. drove some years ago. The event was very well attended, including at least a couple of car clubs, the local radio station, and customers and friends of Gold Country Auto Clinic, Operation Care, and the Interfaith Food Bank (for each canned food item donated to the Food Bank, a raffle ticket was issued).
"It is most heart-warming to see how much affection and respect Don Wilke has earned in the community", said Bill Price, vice-president of Operation Care.  "He has always been a great supporter of Operation Care, and this generous gift will certainly be used for many miles to come".

Operation Care has been providing help for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault for 36 years. Advocates and volunteers are available 24 hours a day to provide crisis intervention, safe shelter, peer counseling, help with restraining orders, and transportation to court or other appointments. The organization's shelter program helps victims to heal, and gives them time to decide where to go next. The "Fresh Start" program helps survivors to transition from the Safe House and establish safe, violence-free housing by helping with rental deposits, donated household items, and furniture. Prevention education programs promote healthy relationships, as well as educating people about the effects of domestic violence and sexual assault on families and the community.
If you or someone needs help, call 911 or call the 24-hour crisis line at 209-223-2600. For more information call 209-223-2897 or visit

Amador Upcountry Rotary presents scholarship at Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp

The Amador Upcountry Rotary Club visited the Grove to present the Rotary 2015 Scholarship to Youth Alexander Morrow.  Unfortunately, Mr. Morrow could not attend, as his crew is assigned to the fires burning in Trinity County.

Mr. Kelly Wolin, President of the Amador Upcountry Rotary Club, spoke briefly about the scholarship. He commended Mr. Morrow’s application letter and stated the importance of Education, and how it can help a person become a positive and respected member of their community.
Accepting the scholarship for Alex were Senior Dave Ehrhardt and Judy Levenson (College Coordinator). Mr. Bob Chrisman, Chairman of the Amador Upcountry Rotary Club Scholarship Committee, presented a framed award letter and a check to Judy Levenson.  She told the attendees that Alex had stated that he plans on using the money to purchase his first computer.

Following the presentation, Senior Ehrhardt and Judy Levenson were asked to speak about Alex’s time in Camp.  They talked about how hard Mr. Morrow had worked in High School, on his College application, and in his position as the Number one man on Wildland Fire Fighting Crew. Alex is dedicated, determined, and committed to succeeding in life. Alex is scheduled to be released this month and he will start his College Classes begin the next day.
